When Your Moment Arrives (Lions Nation)

As you all know, the NFL season has been quite the show to watch as every team has decided to fight like no other in order to receive the winning spot. But if I am honest, the team I am desiring to win the NFL SuperBowl (hopefully they make it) is the one and only Detroit Lions. As a former employee and fellow Detroiter (went to college there and also grew up in metro Detroit) my heart has been connected to this season and watching the players fight and beat the odds that come against them. Every win presents another sense of hope that the next game will be just as great. I am so happy that the Lions have made it this far and I believe that are many lessons that we can all learn from them. Here goes:

  1. Delayed does not mean denied: For many years, the Lions may have had a less than pleasing season. We had some really good players and some really good coaches. However, each year, it was never the time to make it far. The delay was constant but it never meant that we were never going to enter into the season of playing for the NFC Championship. With this analogy, you can apply it to your own life by understanding that whatever you are working for or desiring to have, will eventually come. Sometimes you have to do things differently or approach a problem with a different solution. You also have to acknowledge when you keep making the same mistake more than once. These things can keep delaying our time of success, but it is never a statement of denial.

  2. Right people, right sowers: The people who you have in your circle, matter at all times. If you noticed, the Lions had hired a new GM, a new football coach, and after a few seasons, were headed on the right track. There were fans who were always dedicated and loyal to them and there were others that realized the talent that was on the team, and when they started to win some games (more than what was expected) then others decided they wanted to hop on the bandwagon and become a Lions fan as well. This is all too familiar as human beings. There are times when there were people who came into our lives, were trying to coach us in the right direction, have us do things in a certain way, represent us in certain rooms, but it did not pan out the way that we thought. All of us have experienced this one time or another, and when those people stopped recognizing your potential, they walked away or something happened which caused the relationship to fall apart. Then there are the people who hear about you, hear about what you are doing, but because it is not as successful or popular in the beginning, they decide to turn a blind eye until they start hearing the buzz years later about how great you are doing and the impact you have placed on others and your community. Isn't it weird that people won't start supporting you in your beginning stages but want to turn around and celebrate you when you are successful, like they've always been there??!! Happens every time. Just be aware, the right people will be brought into your life, see your potential, nurture you, sow into, encourage you, and push you to continue to do your best, even when you have a setback or multiple setbacks. Why? Because they see the vision and they know that the vision requires a lot of support and back end help in order to have the vision come to fruition. Those important people want to see you do well in all seasons in your life, and once you are on the other side, you will be in a place to do the same as well.

  3. Isaiah 60: 22 "I am the Lord: in it's time I will do it swiftly.": This scripture has been plastered everywhere on my social media timeline last year and I'm not going to lie, I feel like it has applied to the Detroit Lions success. The way that the team has been having success by winning their games is an extraordinary blessing and God allows it to happen and happen quickly. This will happen in our own lives when we surrender to Him, be obedient, and allow God to be Lord over our lives and move with fierceness on our behalf.

  4. Your season/your moment: The Lions have had a season like no other, but it was their moment to shine and display that they belonged in the fight just like everyone else. No matter how long it took to get here, every obstacle and setback led up to this moment and obviously the sweat, tears, setbacks, and more was well worth it. I am so proud of them! It is very much their time to shine! And just like them, there will come a time when it will be your moment, your season. You will excel in everything and God will move on your behalf. That moment will be overwhelming but exciting because you are at the position that you've been fighting for. And please do understand that when it is your time, IT IS YOUR TIME and nothing and no one can interrupt it or take away from it.

I am so proud of the Detroit Lions and the season that they have had so far. Just like them, may you have a blessed 2024 season/year. Never give up because it is always worth it in the end!
